Isaac Kofi Mensah
SENIOR TOUR GUIDE
My name is Isaac Kofi Mensah; I’m a proud Asante and I belong to the largest ethnic group in Ghana called Akan ethnic group. While the Akan constitutes 42 percent of Ghana’s population, we go beyond the borders of Ghana.
I completed senior high school in 2002. I earned my Diploma in Tour Guiding from Mckeown Hospitality Institute in 2006 and completed University of Cape Coast in 2013 with a degree in Management Studies. I have been in the tourism industry for 18 years and during this time I have gained great exposure and experience which is demonstrated by my extensive knowledge of Africa and beyond. My experience over the past 18 years includes more than a decade as a tour guide at the Cape Coast dungeon when during such time, I was recognized by the tourism board as the best tour guide at the Cape Coast dungeon. Prior to creating Akan Tours, I spent many years as a senior tour guide with a respected tour company that offered tours to various West African countries and I was appointed as the head of heritage and culture. I was also named the best tour guide in the central region of Ghana in 2018 by the tourism authority. I have experience leading tours with solo travelers and groups as large as 50 plus people to countries including Ghana, Benin, and Togo.
I’m very passionate about sharing the culture of West Africa and I love people so I am always excited to share with my cherished clients from all over the world the rich history of our ancestors; the vibrant communities of both large cities and small villages; and the deep heritage that bridges the past, present, and future of West Africa.
